Who This Comparison Is For

If you run a WordPress site and are weighing free plugin-based chat options before committing to an enterprise tool like Intercom, Drift, or Zendesk, TicketZero and VelticAI are both worth a look. They're both listed on the official WordPress.org repository, both install without touching code, and both are frustratingly vague about what they cost after the trial. But the way each one actually handles a visitor's question is almost opposite, which matters more than the pricing question for most site owners deciding between them.

Pricing: Neither Publishes a Real Number

This is the one area where TicketZero and VelticAI are nearly identical, and not in a good way. TicketZero is free to install and offers a free trial of its underlying SaaS backend (run by CC Consulting GmbH), but there's no published pricing page anywhere — you have to start the trial and go through account setup to get a quote. VelticAI is the same story with a tighter window: it offers a free 5-day trial and doesn't publish paid tiers on its WordPress.org listing either. Given that VelticAI runs an AI backend, a paid tier almost certainly shows up eventually, likely as an in-dashboard upsell. Bottom line for both: budget time to actually run the trial and get pricing in writing before assuming either is free long-term.

Feature Comparison: Instant Answers vs. Human-Approved Answers

The real difference between these two plugins is philosophical. TicketZero is built for speed and continuity — it drops a live chat widget on your site in about five minutes, and if you run WooCommerce, it can sync order history and customer account details directly into the chat sidebar so an agent or AI assistant already knows what a shopper is asking about before they ask it. There's no moderation step; the chat behaves like a normal live chat widget.

VelticAI takes the opposite approach by design. It trains a chatbot on your own site content (pages, posts, and WooCommerce products), but it will not let that bot answer visitors automatically. Every AI-generated draft sits in a moderation queue inside wp-admin until a human approves, edits, or rejects it. That eliminates the risk of the bot hallucinating pricing or policy details in public, but it also means visitors don't get real-time responses — they get a delayed one, and possibly one delivered after they've already left the page if the queue isn't staffed promptly. VelticAI also includes a lead capture form in the widget, letting unsatisfied visitors leave a name and email instead of bouncing, which isn't something TicketZero's guide describes.

Which One Should You Actually Install?

If you're a WooCommerce store owner tired of manually answering "where's my order" emails, TicketZero is the more direct fit — the order sync feature exists specifically to solve that problem, and setup is fast enough to test in an afternoon. It's also the better choice for a small agency managing several WordPress client sites that wants one lightweight chat tool instead of standing up a full helpdesk per client.

If you're running a services business or content site with a small, stable set of FAQs and you're worried about a bot inventing answers about pricing, refunds, or policy, VelticAI's moderation queue is the safer design — as long as someone is actually checking that queue regularly, since the whole model breaks down without prompt human review. It's a poor fit for anyone expecting real-time support coverage.

Neither plugin is a good fit if you need multi-channel support, SLA reporting, or CSAT dashboards — for that, the guides both plugins compare themselves against (Intercom, Drift, Zendesk, HubSpot) are the more mature options, at meaningfully higher published prices. And in either case, don't skip the trial: since neither TicketZero nor VelticAI publishes real pricing, that trial period is currently the only way to find out what either will actually cost you.
